Working Visit to Pusat Bahagia

Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Dr. Wan Azizah took a closer look at Pusat Bahagia in Kampung Pulaie.

Yang Amat Berhormat was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan Bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The role and responsibility of the Community Development Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as the programmes conducted at Pusat Bahagia were among the content of a briefing delivered by Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlela binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Yang Amat Berhormat also visited the classes and training workshops before interacting with Pusat Bahagia staff.

Basic Sign Language Workshop

A Basic Sign Language Workshop has been held in an effort to provide exposure to the public on the importance and use of sign language to communicate with hearing impaired persons. The workshop was held by the Community Development Department, JAPEM with the cooperation of Special Education Unit, UPK, Ministry of Education; Otorhinolaryngology Section, ENT, Audiology and Teachers for Hearing Impaired Services, Ministry of Health; and Hearing Impaired Association, OKP as well as student volunteers from the University Technology Brunei, UTB. The opening ceremony of the workshop took place this afternoon at the Pusat Bahagia in Kampung Pulaie.

The workshop was launched by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The ceremony commenced with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Muhammad Saufaqrul Waie bin Amir, a person with hearing impairment.

JAPEM Motivation Talk

To further enhance the spirit of volunteerism in the volunteers to be more proactive and competitive in making the country's vision success, yesterday, Volunteer Unit of Community Development Department, JAPEM held the Motivation Talk. The talk in conjunction with the 35th National Day was held at Dewan Citra Budaya, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

With the titled ''The Spirit of Patriotic through the Volunteers Work for the country and communities in Islamic Perspective'', the motivation talk was delivered by Awang Adi Zaky bin Haji Metasim, Counsellor Officer at the Public Services Department, Prime Minister's Office. The talk among others aimed to strengthen the spirit of loving the country in the volunteerism in facing the challenging of career and life nowadays.

Government Financial Aid Presentation Ceremony to Disaster Victims in Brunei Muara District

​In the effort to help in alleviating the burden of house collapse and fire victims, a Government Financial aid presentation was held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday morning.

The aid was presented by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, to house collapse victims of Kampung Saba Darat B on 18th December last year and in Kampung Pekan Lama on 9th of January last year, as well as house fire victims at the Kampung Tungku Landless Indigenous Scheme on 28th December 2018. Also present were Datin Paduka Dr. Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Dayang Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Tahir, the Acting Director of Community Development.

Donation Presentation for Sulawesi Disaster Humanitarian Fund

 

A total of 272 thousand dollars were collected by the Sulawesi Disaster Humanitarian Fund in the country. The fund was handed over to the ASEAN Centre of Coordination for Humanitarian Aid for Disaster Management in Jakarta, Indonesia last Friday.

The donation was presented by His Excellency Dato Seri Pahlawan (Retired) Brigadier General Awang Haji Yussof bin Abdul Rahman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Indonesia to Mrs. Adelina Kamal, Executive Director of AHA Centre. The donation presentation was witnessed by His Excellency Dato Paduka Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary General of ASEAN and Mr Dicky Fabrian, representative from the National Disaster Prevention Body (BNPB) Indonesia. The donation was a contribution from the citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam to the residents affected during the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The first phase of the proceeds have been channelled for the construction of temporary shelters through the ASEAN Resilient Village project, apart from completing the 300 thousand US dollars contribution from the Philippines Government to AHA Centre. Collectively, the donation will be channelled to ASEAN project.

Persons of Different Abilities Skill Exposure Programme Launching Ceremony

The Youth Development Centre marked another significant milestone by offering skill courses to youths with different abilities. This is in line with the aspirations of Wawasan Brunei 20-35 towards producing more locals who are skilled in various fields. The launching of the Persons of Different Abilities Skill Exposure Programme was held yesterday morning at the Youth Development Centre.

The programme was launched by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. For the programme's first session, 10 youths of different abilities were offered to take part in the Fashion Design Technology Course as well as the Cake and Pastry Baking Course. Held thrice a year, the first session starts today and ends at the 5th of March this year. Participants will undertake several learning modules including those related to workplace safety, workshop or kitchen management and basic skills. The programme is conducted with the cooperation of Pusat Bahagia, Community Development Department, Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education, and Persons with Different Abilities' Well-being Council and associations.
